Introduction to the Holy Souls Crusade

The Holy Souls crusade is a ministry of intercession for relief for the Holy Souls in Purgatory founded by Aidan Bond and some colleagues in Athlone in 2002. As a child Aidan had a devotion and a special bond with the Holy Souls which was heightened by a profound experience when his younger sister died of cancer at age 24.

The ministry became very active during the 2000’s with membership all over Ireland and abroad promoting prayer for the needs of the Holy Souls. Prayer events were centered in Knock because of its affiliation with the Holy Souls through the intercession of Venerable Archdeacon Kavanagh. The ministry has involved the offering of many 100’s of masses for the Holy Souls following Archdeacon Kavanagh’s powerfully fruitful example of mass offerings culminating in Heavens beautifully grateful response of the Knock apparition.

Two annual events were held, a night vigil on the 2nd Saturday night in May and a day of prayer in November on the Sunday after all Souls Day ....

“I pray for the dead so that when they have attained Eternal Glory, they might pray for me.”

“The most ardent furnaces and the most scorching flames to which martyrs were condemned are but a slight breeze when compared to the suffering endured by the souls in Purgatory in order that they be purified.”
